Prayers for Forgiveness of Sins
Prayer of Confession
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." - 1 John 1:9
Merciful Father, I come before You with a humble heart, acknowledging my sins and shortcomings. Forgive me for the wrongs I've done and the good I've failed to do. I ask that You would cleanse my heart and renew my spirit, making me whole again in Your love. Amen.
Prayer for a Clean Heart
"Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." - Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. I pray that You would not cast me away from Your presence or take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with Your free Spirit. Amen.
Prayer of Repentance
"Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out." - Acts 3:19
Lord Jesus, I come to You with sincere sorrow for my sins. In choosing to do wrong and failing to do good, I have sinned against You, whom I should love above all things. With Your help, I firmly intend to do penance, to sin no more, and to avoid whatever leads me to sin. Guide me in this journey of repentance and renewal. Amen.
Prayer for Divine Mercy
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your steadfast love; according to your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions." - Psalm 51:1
God of Mercy, I place my trust in Your infinite compassion. Though my sins be as scarlet, I pray You would make them white as snow. Though they be red like crimson, make them as wool. Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your loving kindness, and wash me clean from all my transgressions. Amen.
Prayer for New Beginnings
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
Gracious Lord, I thank You for Your forgiveness that makes all things new. Help me to leave behind my past mistakes and walk forward in Your grace. Grant me the strength to resist temptation, the wisdom to choose right from wrong, and the courage to live according to Your will. Let me embrace this new beginning You offer with hope and gratitude. Amen.
